The main site for Foundry75 is up and running. The portfolio is being added slowly, but the design news and opinion is flowing fast and furious.

The countdown has begun. It's not meant to build excitement so much as act like an anvil over my head. I should make it forward to something really embarrassing if I miss the deadline. Any ideas?

Thanks to Shain at Make-Parts.com for putting FDRY Model 75 on a homemade bottle of red. That laser can do some seriously cool things with wood, glass, stone, acrylic, rubber, etc. Get in touch with Make-Parts.com to get the whole story.

Neil Middleton from Monochrome has written a great piece that helps to shed some light on the difficulties of designing software. It all applies to developing web content as well. I laughed... and cried. It is written as a letter to an architect from a client, however, the client's voice is one that many developers will find all too familiar. "Please design and build me a house. I am not quite sure of what I need, so you should use your discretion. My house should have somewhere between two and forty-five bedrooms. Just make sure the plans are such that the bedrooms can be easily added or deleted."

My brother and I drove up the Virgin River Gorge from the Nevada to the Utah side. I have managed to mess with the video just enough to screw it up.

It was a great week of work and another week of vacationing in and around London. We managed to get out of the metropolis to visit a few outlaying locations such as Stonehenge, Bath, and Salisbury.

Another great set of images from The Boston Globe.
I've been back and forth to Los Angeles a couple of times over the last few days. I was able to take a little walk on the pier on my last trip before the meeting.

One of my favorite podcasts right now is The Monocle Weekly. They just recently moved into their Summer Series which features culture more than news. In the first episode, the featured musical act was The Quiet Nights Orchestra. I immediately fell in love with their music. It's still a little tough to get in the US, but if you scroll down on their MySpace page there is an option to purchase the MP3 files.
The Coudal Partners' Layer Tennis finals are today. The match seems to be one of those David versus Goliath tilts with the relatively unknown Gregory Hubacek going up against the defending co-champion, Shaun Inman. Hubacek came out of the qualifying matches and managed to beat Chris Glass in the first round of the playoffs and then took care of Aaron Draplin in the semi-finals. Live commentary is being given by two of my favorites, John Gruber and Jason Santa Maria. It sounds like they might even be doing some live audio commentary.
